Understand OEM references on aftermarket CTL listings and compare fitment evidence, assembly contents, warranty terms and supplier support.
An identification reference is not a brand claim
An OEM cross-reference helps connect an aftermarket replacement to an original part application. It does not mean the replacement was made by, supplied by or endorsed by the original equipment manufacturer. Read the listing’s manufacturer and description separately from the reference number.
Compare the product being supplied
A replacement idler wheel and an idler assembly are not necessarily the same purchase. Check what is included: shaft, bearings, seals, brackets and mounting hardware may differ between offers. Request clarification when the photograph and text appear to show different contents.
Look for evidence of fitment
Useful evidence includes the complete OEM reference, exact machine designation, applicable serial range and relevant dimensions. A statement that a component fits an entire brand is too broad on its own. Compare the original installation with the replacement specification and keep written confirmation when the application is uncertain.
Assess value beyond the headline price
Consider the supplied assembly, availability, delivery, warranty conditions and support if a discrepancy appears on arrival. Do not assume a claimed percentage saving describes a like-for-like item. A lower-priced component that cannot be installed on the scheduled day can cost more in lost work.
Inspect before fitting
On delivery, compare labels, dimensions and mounting details with the confirmed order while keeping packaging and documentation. Resolve discrepancies before modifying or installing the item. Use the correct service procedure and hardware requirements for the machine.

Frequently asked questions
Are aftermarket parts the same as counterfeit parts?
No. An accurately described aftermarket replacement is sold under its own identity. It should not be misrepresented as an original manufacturer’s product.
Why does IPX display OEM numbers?
They help identify the intended replacement application. They are not a claim that an aftermarket component is manufactured or endorsed by that OEM.
Will the same reference always include the same hardware?
Not necessarily. Compare the stated assembly contents and confirm what is included in each offer.
Should I compare warranty terms?
Yes. Read the actual terms, exclusions and claim process for the product you are buying.
What should I do if the delivered part looks different?
Check the specification and contact the supplier before fitting or modifying it. Keep photographs, labels and packaging.
