CAT Rubber Tracks: Comparing 249D, 259D3 and 299C Listings

CAT rubber tracks should be compared by the complete machine designation and the track’s full dimensions. The IPX catalogue examples in this guide range from a 320 mm track for a 249D listing to a 450 mm track for a 299C listing, with different link counts as well as widths.

Shop CAT rubber tracks or use the examples below to prepare your replacement-track enquiry.

Do not shorten the model to its three-digit family

Keep the generation letters and numbers when requesting a replacement. The 259D and 259D3 have separately named listings; seeing a similar model in a search result does not establish compatibility with your machine. The table below lets you compare named examples without treating every CAT loader as the same track application.

The 299C examples offer B and N tread choices at 450 × 86 × 60. The 249D example uses AC tread at 320 × 86 × 49, and the 259D3 example uses B tread at 400 × 86 × 52. This is why browsing solely by tread letter can mix together very different replacement tracks.

These are selected aftermarket listings, not a complete fitment chart or a guarantee of current stock. Dimensions are shown as width in millimeters × pitch in millimeters × link count. Open the product page for the current specification and availability.

CAT 299C 450 × 86 × 60 N Lug
CAT 299C 450 × 86 × 60 B Lug

CAT 259D3 400 × 86 × 52 B Lug

Confirm the track before comparing tread

Match the complete model and serial identification, track width, pitch, link count and internal guide configuration. If the marking is worn, use our rubber track measurement guide to gather the details for a fitment enquiry. Do not infer compatibility from a matching width or an exterior photograph alone.

Once fitment is established, compare the listed tread choices against your usual surfaces and tasks. Our AC, B, C, N and Z pattern guide explains the options. A pattern shown for one model is not a promise that the same option is available for every CAT machine.

Plan the replacement order

The selected products are listed individually. Specify one track or a quantity of two for a pair, and confirm availability before scheduling downtime. Include the product link, machine identification and a photograph of the existing track marking in your enquiry.

For a damaged or unevenly worn track, arrange an inspection of the surrounding undercarriage before fitting the replacement. Read when to replace rubber tracks for the warning signs to discuss. Use the exact machine’s service instructions for installation and tension settings.

Frequently asked questions

Is a CAT 259D listing automatically suitable for a 259D3?

Do not infer fitment from the shared family number. Check the full machine designation, serial information, track dimensions and approved application.

Are these original CAT tracks?

These IPX listings are aftermarket replacements. Machine names identify the listed applications; they do not imply that the tracks are manufactured or endorsed by CAT.
